I think if you are looking for a true most correct retro lower, then save the money and get a NoDak lower when you can afford it.they leave space on the lower to have it engraved with faux roll marks if you wanted to send it off and have something put on it.and come more color correct for the time period.but sometimes you just have to roll with what you have for the time being.everyone has to start somewhere. So for the time being if all you have is Grizzly A2 use it for now until you can fund a lower from NoDak, they do quality work and im sure it would be well worth the wait. I have 4 retros i am trying to piece together as correct as can be and it has taken a couple years to be able to fund the parts i need but i know when they are done i know what i have and will be as correct as can be.but i think the main difference might be the color to match the upper, quality and space for engraving if you want it.just do what you can afford until then.absolutley nothing wrong with what you are using nowgood luck and happy building. Yes, the differences might seem 'minor' to some people, but to many of the people here they are huge differences.I suspect that if you use the A2 lower, and you hang around here much, you'll eventually replace it with an NDS-16A1 lower. Many others here have started with A2s and have eventually replaced them with NDS lowers.I've never heard anyone say they wish they had stuck with their A2 lower.Warning: they usually end up with another build around the A2 lower.
The only other difference I can think of between the A1 and A2 lower receivers is that the A2 has a slightly thicker extension where the buffer tube screws in compared to the A1. However, it is one of those differences that you pretty much have to see side-by-side to notice. Ar-15 M16 A1 Lower Receiver Brownells. Ar-15 M16 A1 Lower Receiver Brownells is best in online store. Can anyone point me to where I can get one?Personally I think it will bother me a bit (the Grizzly lower), so I might end up going with an A2 build for now. Issue is, I sold my A2 stock a year ago.Until around 1989, civilian Colt rifles had a different sized pivot pin.
So, any upper from one of these Colts, both SP1 and A2, will not fit without an adapter. Colt never made an A1 upper, so you should be fine. And to clarify, the A1 has a forward assist and no shell deflector. Originally Posted By Flogger23m:Thanks for the replies everyone.
